  5. Why not join the HAPPY band of F1 programmers and join in the thrill and fun
  6. of seeing your software reviewed and advertised in the Amiga press and
  7. hopefully even make yourself a few bucks beer money into the bargain?
  8.  
  9. You will find F1 a bit friendlier than your usual Licenceware vendor as we
  10. DO CARE about your product and we work hard to make it available to the
  11. Amiga software buying public, after all it's our living!
  12.  
  13. Just take a look back over the last year in all the Amiga magazines and you
  14. will see more than 85 reviews of F1 Licenceware products, we have even won
  15. awards for best games software of 1994 from Amiga Format. Any one of those
  16. reviews could of been yours, what are you waiting for?

  18. O.K let's be honest and realistic, not all of our programmers make much
  19. money, some very little indeed, all we can do is get your reviews in the mags
  20. spread demo versions into the P.D and ask our distributers to promote your 
  21. products the best they can in their adverts and catalogues.

  23. It is a fact that some software will sell like hot cakes and other titles,
  24. no matter how good, just do not sell. This part is up to you, send us
  25. something that people want, make it of a very high standard and you are
  26. well on your way.

  28. Here at F1 we recognise the need for speed, we won't keep you on
  29. tenter-hooks waiting for months to find out if your product has been
  30. accepted or not. As a general rule you will receive a reply from us within 
  31. TWO DAYS, yes I will repeat that, T W O  D A Y S, not six months or even
  32. worse, no reply at all, we ALWAYS reply to your letters. 
  33. We would appreciate a stamp if you have never submitted to F1 before though 
  34. to keep costs down.

  36.                                 THE F1 PLEDGE

  38.     To prove to you the importance we place on turnaround we promise that:
  39.     If you do not receive some sort of reply from us within 7 days of your
  40.     letter reaching us we will give you £10 credit to spend on F1 titles.

  44. The serious business bit start here:

  47. Following are details of how to submit programs for evaluation.

  50. 1) The program you are submitting must be 100% your own work, you will be 
  51. personally responsible for any breaches of copyright and as the copyright
  52. of your program will stay with you and not F1 you will be sued not us.
  53. Also the program must be exclusive to us and previously unreleased, except
  54. in demo form or if you have upgraded the software sufficiently. There may
  55. be other exceptions, ask us if you are not sure, we can only say no at worse.
  56.  
  57. 2) All programs submitted must be compatible with at least Amiga`s 500 & 1200
  58. standard memory configurations.  Exceptions being things like AGA only.
  59.  
  60. 3) Please include the following details about your program:
  61. Basic outline of what it does, Language written in, Cheat modes (if any)
  62. How many levels (if applicable) which Amiga`s you have been able to test
  63. it on. Your name, address and phone number.
  64.  
  65. 4) Please supply full documentation on disk in ASCII, or in the program
  66. itself. PLEASE NOTE* THIS IS ESSENTIAL.

  68. 5) Please supply a stamp with all correspondence if you want a reply.

  70. If we accept your program

  72. Your program will be sold for £3.99 if it is on 1 disk £4.99 2 disks etc.
  73. Your royalty per copy sold will be 25% of the selling price for example:
  74. Sold at £3.99 (£1 royalty)  £4.99 (£1.25 royalty) etc.

  76. Our top selling programs author each quarter will receive a small cash bonus.
  77.  
  78. If we accept your program you will be sent a contract to sign, read it 
  79. carefully and if you are happy with it, sign it and return it as soon as 
  80. possible.  All programs accepted will be sent to all relevant magazines for 
  81. review. Please leave sending review copies out to us as this is part of our 
  82. service to you.

  84. Every three months you will receive a cheque from F1. If your program has
  85. earnt £5.00 or more, if it has not then the money will be held over until the
  86. next quarter or until it's earned £5 or more or you pacifically request
  87. payment.

  89. If we cannot accept your program we will let you know within a week, maximum.
  90. We will tell you exactly what we think is wrong with it and may offer advice
  91. and ideas to make your program acceptable to us.

  97. Q. How, when and how much will I be paid for my program?
  98.  
  99. A. Royalties are calculated at 25% of the purchase price of your program
  100.    so if your program is being sold at £3.99 you will receive 1.00
  101.    for each and every copy we sell for you.  Cheques will be sent directly
  102.    to the programmers every quarter.

  104. Q. What type of programs are F1 looking for?
  105.  
  106. A. Anything of quality, including games/utilities/educational/Hyperbook etc.
  107.    as long as your program is of better quality than a good P.D equivelent 
  108.    then you have a chance of acceptance, only about one in five programs are
  109.    accepted by us though as the standard is quite high.

  111. Q. Are there any rules for sending in my program for evaluation?
  112.  
  113. A. Yes, State your name/address/phone number on the disk label, All programs
  114.    must be original work and previously un-released, we can make
  115.    exceptions if you have distributed demo versions or tried selling by 
  116.    mail order unsuccessfully!  Every program must come with FULL on disk
  117.    documentation or instructions inside the program itself, this is very 
  118.    important and we can make NO exceptions.  Please let us know the minimum 
  119.    memory requirements (if known) and let us know what machines you know 
  120.    your program will run on, the minimum requirements are A500 & A1200
  121.    we can make exceptions in some cases on this point. Please let us know
  122.    which language your program is written in and the language version, for 
  123.    example Amos V1.36, this will help us work out compatibility.
  124.    We will not except any obscene subject matter or anything likely to 
  125.    offend.

  127. Q. What else can F1 offer us programmers apart from our royalty?
  128.  
  129. A. Not a lot! Well you can get 20% off of all our Licenceware products,and a
  130.    friendly/fast/helpful service.

  132. Q. How are you going to sell my program?
  133.  
  134. A. We will do everything in our power to sell your product, At the time of
  135.    writing we have 13 distributers selling F1 products. We will send review 
  136.    copies of all our products to ALL relevant mags and will be coaxing news 
  137.    stories and plugs in any and every mag on the market. 
  138.    Selling your program is the only way we can survive so you can be sure we
  139.    will be doing our best.

  141. Q. How do we know you will pay us the correct amount of royalties?
  142.  
  143. A. You don`t! This is a trust thing, but saying that 99% our income will be
  144.    from postal customers and they will mostly be paying by cheque which will
  145.    have to go through the F1 bank account which the taxman will have his
  146.    eye on for any discrepancies, we will publish sales records of every disk
  147.    which will be sent to you with your cheque, in any case we are honest 
  148.    people (Husband, wife and two kids) trying to make an honest living and we
  149.    want F1 to be a long term job for us and to do this successfully we have
  150.    to build a bond of trust with our programmers. I have been stitched up in
  151.    the past myself and you get to know who the straight people are very 
  152.    quickly, we wouldn`t last long being dishonest it is in our interest to be
  153.    straight with you in the long run.

  155. Q. What happens if my program just simply does not sell?
  156.  
  157. A. We will give it every chance but if sales are zero for a year we may
  158.    offer to release it back to you.

  160. Q. Can I put adverts in my program for other products of mine not Licenced 
  161.    to F1?
  162.  
  163. A. Within reason, yes you can, most other Licenceware outfits won`t allow it.
